The following goals have been generated by committees composed of township members.
1. Maintain the rural lifestyle of Maine Prairie Township, while welcoming future growth.
2. Improve community involvement in the social institutions that shape the quality of life within the township.
3. Promote recreational opportunities within Maine Prairie Township.
4. Protect and preserve the quality of the natural resources within the Township.
5. Promote building and development practices that minimize impacts to the natural environment.
6. Encourage the property owners and residents of Maine Prairie to have more influence over land use decisions within
the Township.
7. Strive to find a healthy balance between normal life within the township and the need to keep things reasonably neat
and orderly.
8. Manage the impacts of intensive extractive uses.
9. Ensure that future development is placed in a location where it is compatible with the surrounding development pattern.
10. Create an economic environment that encourages job creation and opportunity for business expansion.
11. Maintain a reasonable tax rate in the Township.
12. Plan for future road maintenance expenses to ensure quality infrastructure and stable property taxes.
13. Maintain roadways for a reasonable level of safety to accommodate local traffic demand.
14. Keep residents well informed on Township issues and encourage public involvement.
15. Seek ways to work cooperatively with the City of Kimball and other surrounding entities, to mutual advantage.
16. Improve the working relationship with Stearns County in matters of land use and zoning.
