The Township has had a lot of inquiry from residents regarding the litigation ongoing with Wright County at the local and the state level. We have set up this site to distribute information on those actions.
There are two proceedings. The first action was brought by Corinna Township seeking an end to Wright County's practice of double-permitting of building permits within the Township's shoreland areas. The second action has been brought by the Minnesota Attorney General's office (AG), on behalf of the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DOLI). DOLI named Corinna Township the sole permitting authority within the town and is seeking to compel Wright County to cease issuing building permits (double-permitting).
On September 1, 2009, the DOLI Commissioner made its final ruling on this matter, which confirmed the May 2009 order that Wright County cease issuing new building permits anywhwere in Corinna Township. Wright County has appealed this decision to the Court of Appeals - a process which is liklely to take at least another year. In the meantime, Wright County is abiding by the September 1 order.
